A must have. Review on Cosmos - Carl Sagan

This review is on the new DVD of Cosmos.

For those who did not read Cosmos, it is an collection of discussions of scientific ideas in theoretical physics, astronomy, biology since the start of time. It discusses the Evolution of Cosmos (Universe); and the people who have tried to understand the mysteries. You can read some other reviews to know more about it.

Carl Sagan, the man who inspired millions to love basic sciences. I remember the time I saw the series on DD (there used to be some good programs on TV back then!); I remember waking up in excitement and anticipation on every Sunday; watch the TV; and day dream on about the Voyager going beyond our solar system; about the black holes. It was a life changing event for me and millions of people.

So when Cosmos on DVD was released, I immediately grabbed it. Its a shear bliss to see the program again. Its very well produced, digitally re-mastered ( the graphics illustrations are great) and with new addendum ( Original Cosmos TV series was produced in 80s) and images. It starts with introduction by Producer Ann Druyan ( Dr. Carl Sagan's widow), and spans 13 great hours of great infotainment. The nice thing about it is at the end of each episode, there is a 'Cosmos Update' in which Carl Sagan discusses the new things discovered/ changed in the span of 10 years when the Cosmos was first produced.

It is a truly outstanding piece of work. A must buy for everyone!
