I bought a 6 month jumbo CD from Citibank - they were desperate and offered a good rate. I never received the confirmation, only an ATM card that I can't use with a CD anyway.


They don't send paper statements if you don't have a checking account with them. I called 3 weeks ahead of maturity asking to close the account and send me the money. Asked to wire to my account - impossible. Send by Fedex at my expense - impossible. Electronic transfer to my account - impossible. The only way to get the money fast is to go in person to their nearest location (140 miles from me).


Three days AFTER maturity I call - they did not even begin to process the check. Their service is a disaster, especially taking into account the bailout paid from my taxes. I called three times, spent at least 20 minutes on the phone each time, their location search at the web site does not work, there is no online access without checking account.
