I bought my Chevy Beat Diesel LS (Middle Version) from Auto Vikas Dwarka in July 2012 for Rs 5.20 Lacs (Haryana Registeration) . Car has already done 4000 Km in 6 months.
Here is my experience with this Car.
Pros:
Looks - Compact car with great looks.
Space - Lot of room for front passengers. Comfortable for rear too. Boot space is less but OK for me as I drive mostly in city where I need not to carry heavy luggage.
Ground Clearance - G8. It will never touch on any spead breaker.
Suspension - 7/10
Price - Cheapest among Diesel Cars available with lots of features.
Mileage - Giving me 18-19 in City traffic with well known Gurgaon Jams. Around 21 on Highways.
Other - Car comes with Feather light steering wheel and easy to drive. Silent engine with very less/ reasonable noise level.
Cons:
Headlights - I find headlights bit weak when compared to other cars. Discussed with Chevy service guy. He told that it's a 12 W bulb which is sufficient. Yet to clear on this aspect!!
Even a Top model don't have Height Adjustable Seat. I like to drive with full n clear visibility. Might be only my perception. However I am using cushion for myself (My height is 5'7''). Please suggest if seat height adjustable cushion available in market.
It's not a Highway Car. Comfortable at a speed of 90. Beyond that this Car is risky specially on Turns or while changing lanes. You need to be perfect driver for speeds beyond that. My max speed for Beat is 120. It goes shaky beyond that.
Minor accidents can cause big dents. However, most of the cars have got similar quality in this category. Skoda and Volkswagon are best in metal quality but again they come for 1 to 1.50 lac more.
I hope my review will benefit those looking to buy small diesel hatchback.
Would like to know about servicing and maintenance for this car.
Thanks
Sunil
