Lay Off Pork!. Review on Charlotte's Web - E.B White

Primarily, I'd like to know what this book is doing in the poetry/drama section. That is an interesting question if you think about it. Then on the other hand, I imagine the person who put it there as distraught and moved by the final sad poignancy of the book.

Ok, ok, I've rambled enough! Charlotte's Web is a lovely book for those who still have a bit of the inner child in them. Perhaps some would call it a ''childrens'' book. Fair enough, but I'm not willing to classify myself as a child, and I do love to pick up my old favourites and reread them. Charlottes Web is a book I have reccommended to so many people. Its simple, plain ol' magic.

There's this pig( and if you love pigs, like I do, that in itself is a surefire way toa masterpeice!). The pig's name is Wilbur, and he's been brought up from when he was a runt, by a little girl called Fern. Eventually, he grows, as all small things do, and Fern sells him to her uncle, Mr Zuckerman.

Anyway, to sum up this bee-yew-ti-ful story, Wilbur is narrowly saved from becoming breakfast by a quick thinking spider,who also happens to be his best friend, called Charlotte.(Ah, I can hear you saying,thats where the title comes from!).

Eventually, it does have a happy ending, but happy touched with a little sadness. I never could decide whther I liked the ending or hated it.

I'd reccommend it to all of you who know a ceratin special kid, read aloud or just give it to them.( I also reccommend it to all you fellow closet-childrens-books-readers!)
