A not so good place . Review on Calypso

Calypso experience

1) An evolving organization - has its fare share of ups and downs

2) Weak work culture, with no processes defined. HR initiatives are down to zero.

3) Teams exists as silos.

4) Though most work gets done somehow. Not much accountability is shown. So all garbage is thrown by the superiors. Most processes don't exist. It's like I pay you money, so I own you. No processes at work. blindly doing what is being said.

5) Some Leads boss around and do apple polishing to the managers. Most requirements are conveyed by mouth; then the Team Member has to break his head in understanding the business requirements, no help or support from existing or senior team members.

6) The smart ones join, realize this and have left earlier,  while the dull and thick skinned stay behind

Attrition rates are extremely high, new ones join and old ones leave. No work life balance is entertained.

7) It could strengthen its people management skills. Seen just as a cost cutting shop for the organization in India

Also

1) Managers get the work done here by threats, coercion and shouting at team members. Very bad team management at times even physical abuses are common. A Manager once raised his hand to hit an employee who had resigned and was on a notice period. This manager when he lost his temper was foul mouthed, rude , extremely abusive and at times had no control over anger.

2) Co-workers force others to stay late, with constant fighting and sarcastic remarks thrown in.

3) Can survive here if one is ready to turn a blind eye and is ready to suck up to your boss

4) Few employees start cribbing in the first few months.

Pros:

1) Excellent domain knowledge can be gathered

2) As others, initial salary is good

3) Salary hikes are at times on industry parlance and at times more than the regular 5% or 10%

4) Broad Tech Knowledge can also be gathered depending upon the individuals style of working

5) It can be assured that if you work here for quite some time you are of an extremely strong personality and character. Tests the limits of patience.

All this is not story but a fact. ask people who have joined and left. I was lucky to leave and join else where. The rest of the goodie parts which all companies offer are also offered here.
