Buying a DVD-rom drive was so hard a few months ago.but now, even though the prices have dropped, the thought still remains over which brand you should go for.to tell you the truth, buying a dvd drive is the wisest thing you can do right now as the format of data storage is fast switching over to DVD's due to their high data storage capability and in case of movies.the clarity.
Brands such as'creative', 'samsung', 'mercury' etc offer the best drives.i would suggest that you go for a dedicated drive rather than a combo drive.i.e. one which only reads .buy a rewritable one separately.
The problem lies in the reading /writing head in a combo drive.as you write more, the ability of the head to read goes on diminishing and in a short duration you will begin to have a lot of repairs to do, finally leading the drive to the grave.do you want this to happen?.certainly not.hence, i once again strongly recommend a dedicated DVD drive .
