I rented this movie so that my family and I could watch it together on a rainy day. Wow, was I surprised. The rating on this movie is PG-13. I figured it would be more than appropriate for 8 and 10 year old girls. NO WAY! Although the plot was very good and the actors and actresses do a good job, this PG-13 movie would have been better rated as PG with parental concerns. No, it did not have nudity, but yes, it did exude nudity and sexuality. It also contained some pretty strong language. For a movie about high school kids and cheerleading, this movie was much more ''adult'' than that.

The plot is about a 5 time national champion cheerleading squad. The main character, Torrance, gets handed the Captain of the Squad title and must get her squad to nationals again this year. She runs into a lot of snags and mishaps while trying to fulfull her duty. The story is well rounded as far as identifying a number of problems that all high school kids must face. This is a good story to show how perserverence and hard work can pay off. It is also a good story about showing how to do the right thing, but again, I say WOW! It is not a good story for younger kids to watch. My kids learned things in this movie that I certainly felt were inappropriate. I don't remember high school being as free and uninhibited as this movie portrays.

This movie is definately not fit for the young PG-13 rating that it was given.
