This movie is a very welcome addition to the big screen. The story is compelling, magically so, and keeps the viewer entertained throughout. The cast was excellent as was the direction. This movie is so different than what normally comes to my local theatre that I am almost surprised it ever got made on such a large scale in ther first place!
The tension between the father and son is extremely well done. This is a very human story and Jessica Lange does a great job as the wife/mother. This movie doesn't follow the usual Hollywood formulas, which these days is enough to make it a gem.
The viewer is drawn in to the story, which unfolds naturally, revealing countless strange and wonderful characters and stories within the story.
One can only hope that the success of this film will re-introduce the art of storytelling back into Hollywood films, which sorely need it. This film is a great date movie, as well as one to see with friends and family.
Cheers!
