Our family enjoys taking photographs on our travels or even on weekend outings. Like most others, our photos too do better with a modicum of editing. We first tried Photoshop which I gave up on as it was way too complicated for an amateur like me. Actually it may not be as complicated as it seems but all the nomenclature was a bit too much.
Then we started using Microsoft Picture Editor which comes free with MS Word. That programme is easy to use and quite effective for contrast, cropping etc but there comes a stage when you want a lot more. I chanced upon Photoscape mentioned in a newspaper article, visited their site
http://www.photoscape.org
and downloaded the free programme.
In a word, it is excellent. It has everything an amateur ordinary photographer could need from uncomplicated, easy to use minute contrast / colour / brightness / sharpening / backlighting / bloom etc. tools to layers, frames, resizing, inserting text and captions and all sorts of other stuff such as animation etc which I have not even begun to experiment with. All very user friendly too.
We are very happy with the results. I would recommend Photoscape to anyone who wants a semi advanced photo editor without any complications. Do try it and see for yourselves.
