Hi Friends,
As I owned and used many different pulsar models,
I thought I would like to share with you an honest , and practical observation about Bajaj Pulsar Models.
This is not just based on hearsey but something which I have seen and experienced.
My Intention behind this review is to make you aware about the true Positives and Negatives that I have found in this "Pulsar" series so that when you make a choice you can really be confident as to what you are getting into.
My First bike was Bajaj Pulsar 150 with Self Start Violet color :-
When I saw and rode this bike for the first time, it was a feeling that I never ever experience in Indian bikes , and really thought that this bike is in for something great in the Indian market and of course that's what happened.
The bike had an excellent pick up, a disk brake which really was best ONLY when you know how to use it .Many people seemed to complain about the disk brake, but I found out that it was their fault that they met with an accident because of disc brake and not the bike's fault, they used it like a drum brake in many cases and of course whenever that will happen it will invite trouble.
My next bike was 150 Dtsi Spoke wheel model :-
This bike was very impressive with the Head which really looked like wolf eyes , and I remember taking the bike to my native place and was just impressed by the beautiful descriptions people gave me about it, one of the the visible differences was in the silencer, but to be frank I liked the old silencer which looked very strong and was strong truly as compared to the new one.
Then I owned a Pulsar 150 Black with Magwheels :-
This one was truly an impressive bike to be frank.
People just asked me about the bike and wanted to take a ride when they saw it , the best thing about the bike was the mudguard above the tyres which looked something unique compared to other bikes in the segment , and it felt that Bajaj has just got hold of the segment completely.
Of course not to forget the Engine smoothness, it was something which could only impress you more, smooth and fuel efficient at the same time, don't forget the exhaust silencer for that matter.
Then came the 200, the black engine the black body and the looks to kill :-
When I bought this bike, I was very happy at my decision, the Engine was more smoother than the other Pulsar models , the looks were of a typical sport bike when see at once and the last thing that someone could imagine was the fact that this could be an Indian bike.
The unique fact about Pulsar 200 when it was introduced in the market was the removal of the kick start facility , this was probably done to make the bike look more sporty and a to make a modern bike appeal.
Now I would like to list some positives and negatives that are found commonly and specifically in Bajaj bikes :-
Common Positives in Pulsars
1) Good Build quality.
2) Heavy feel on the bike ensuring stability.
3) Does not wobble on high speeds compared to other bikes in the segment.
4) Fun to ride and trustworthy for long continuous rides.
Common Problem in Pulsars.
1) The rear brake liner wears off easily you have to change it frequently.
2) The Engine does not sound as it was when the bike was new, just after 3000 kilometers in my view.
3) The Clutch cable and Throttle cable are not durable, the clutch cable gets jammed and the throttle cable either breaks or gets jammed.
4) The Self Start is Typical Bajaj -- A Loud Noise and no Instant start as you find in its competitor.
5) In Pulsar 200 - Kick Removed , One of the biggest mistakes Bajaj did, in my opinion, it does not meet the need of an Indian bike, with regards to the weather conditions and habits of people.
If the kick was present, I could have bet that the Pulsar 200 would have been one of the best sellers.
In case I have forgotten to add something, may be with our discussion I can describe it as well. :)
