Anandtech is the brainchild of Anand Lal Shimpi. Along with a staff of seven, he has managed to not only steal the crown of PC Information Guru from Tom Pabst (tomshardware.com), but also to provide the most professional tech site I have ever seen.

I’ve been a member of the AnandForums on Anandtech, for about 2 years. I’ve seen it undergo a major site redesign, but the focus has never changed. 100% pure PC reviews, information, stats, forums, prices, links, etc.

I initially went to the site through a link on tomshardware.com, in 2000. I was scanning an article on overclocking, when I saw the link. I went to the site, and stayed for more than 30 minutes. I have returned at least 3 times a week since then.

The information is just that impressive and substantial.

Some of the information provided includes:

  • Reviews of top-of-the-line motherboards, from Asus to Chaintech to Abit, with every chipset available.

  • Comparison of the best motherboards, ram, CPUs, hard drives, CD drives, CDRWs, etc.

  • Archive of practically every review/article/chart put out on Anandtech.

  • Links to other great tech sites, including arstechnica.com, OCworkbench.com, and others.

  • A community forum (with over 77,000 members) which boast some of the most PC knowledgeable and intelligent members around. Also, a great “For Sale” section and “Hot Deals” section for those looking to buy new or used equipment.

The information is always up-to-date, and is separated into easy to follow sections – guides, video, cpu, mb, etc.

It is also not as “tech-speak” heavy like some other PC Tech sites (arstechnica.com), which may be intimidating to some. The articles are well-written, and easily understandable to even the most novice of PC users.

A great site, which should be the first stop for any PC user looking to know his equipment better.
