I like Airtel's cell coverage and their huge national footprint.
I love the fact that you have the same number while you roam from Bangalore to Bombay to Ahmedabad and then Nagpur and then Hyderabad and back to Bangalore. In Bangalore their coverage is excellent. The tarrifs are very competitive and their customer service (on the phone and in-person) is also good. You can recv emails (160 chars max) from anyone/anywhere on your cell phone. You can also send emails to anyone/anywhere from your cell phone, which I find very very useful. The voice mail capability is also very nice, in that you pay as you go.
If you travel abroad, international roaming is also ok, unless you are visiting US, where they do not have roaming tie-ups.
If you do not need roaming or need limited mobility try Tata Indicom (Bangalore) or some other local limited wirless service provider.
