I have been an Airtel user for years and have been totally satisfied with them until TODAY. I have two Airtel accounts.One for my cellphone and the other, my internet data card both postpaid. I pay my bills within a week of receiving them. Last month, I requested to combine the two bills in one the outcome?
Today, they debarred my outgoing calls from my mobile because my internet data card usage had crossed Rs. 20k. and that had crossed the credit limit of my phone account. They asked me to pay Rs. 20+ k now to get it unbarred or wait for the actual bill which would be generated on 24th. The daily sms I receive on my phone says my current usage is Rs. 395.10 till 15.11.2012. And on my internet account, the last text I received said "Number: 121

Approx. Current Usage on your airtel mobile 991001**** till 15/11/2012 is Rs.20873.61 (excl.discount/rent/roaming usage). Actual amount will reflect in next bill.
Time: 11/17/2012 10:00:29 AM"...This is regular for every month. When the actual bill generates, they will deduct the free GB(discount) as per my plan, as is done every month and the actual bill will come to around Rs.800. On enquiring from the customer service, they told me that they cannot see my separate bills until the actual bill is generated...that I must pay Rs.20+ k to get my outgoing calls unbarred....or wait till next bill date (24th Nov) to pay the actual bill and get my services restored. On my request to un-combine my phone and internet bills, they said they can take my request only after I pay this Rs. 20+k before 24th Nov or the actual bill after 24th.
I went to their website to complain, but did not find any proper place to do so.
My questions are :
- Why should my phone ( No.X) be debarred of outgoing calls when the current usage of Rs. 20+k is from another number (No.Y), just because the bills are combined?.... They are two different numbers, giving me different services, for God's sake!!!!!!
Funny thing is...No.Y is continuing to give me the services, because of which I can post this , right now.
If they cannot see separate bills, how the hell are they sending me those current usages, DAILY, on both my cellphone ( Rs. 395.1) and data card ( Rs. 20, 873 , excluding discount) ?
Why can't they ask me to pay ( Rs. 20, 873 minus discount) , if indeed I have crossed my credit limit? Assuming that I have used more than my regular monthly usage in this period, why should I pay Rs. 20+k when the actual bill ( combined) will come to not more than Rs. 2000. ( Average of last few months is even less than Rs.2000). This is also not possible since I was out of the country for a week during this period, and I have no international roaming on my Plan.
Why doesn't their website have a proper tool for lodging a complaint? They have customized the Complaint/Request tool to their convenience. And the text field has very few character space. There was no proper place where I could lodge mine. Hence, posting it here.
Why couldn't they take my request to un-combine my two bills and give me separate bills henceforth, unless I pay first? That was not their condition when I requested to combine the bills, or for any of my previous request for other services, as a matter of fact.
Why wasn't I given a warning text/call at least 1-2 days ahead, so that I could have paid a token amount or something? Instead they just debar my outgoing calls without any warning on a Sunday, when their offices are closed!!!!!!
