Amitabh at his best. Review on Trishul

Trishul realeased in 1978's was amitabh one of the most successfull movies with his one of the top performances of his career.

shanti (waheeda rehman) and raj (sanjeev kumar) were both from a middle class family. shanti an oridnary clerk in a office and raj an engineer in a huge construction company. They were in love one day raj takes shanti in his house to meet his mom, his mother accepts shanti and raj was a happy man. Where raj's mom has accepted his dad wouldn't let him marry shanti. Raj marries his boss's daughter who is much wealthier. Raj was made partner in the construction company where he works after the marriage. Raj goes to meet shanti and tells her to go to a another city and he leaves her even after she had told him she is pregnant Shanti gives birth to a baby boy vijay (amitabh) and before she could see vijay acheive something in life she departs from the world, but took a promise from her son that he would be a good human being.

After his mother's death vijay leaves town and heads for the city where his father bussiness magnate r.k. gupta lived in his happy world with his wife son, shekar (shashi kapoor) and daughter kusum (poonam dhillon). Vijay reaches the city and ready for a confrontation with his father the powerful r.k gupta and vijay just an ordinary person on the side and R.K. gupta on the other. Vijay entered his father lives with revenge in his his mind.

Cold war develops between the two. Vijay makes r.k. family go through a lot of misery. He beats his father in all the business deals and snatches away all of his wealth. He interfere's with hisa half brother shekhar's love by flirting with sheeta (hema malini. He helps R.k. gupta's secretary raakhee who admires and loves by offering her a job in his company. He also encourages r.k.'s daughter kusum to elope with her love (sachin) against the wishes of her father. He turns the whole family against r.k and finally reveals the truth to r.k. R.k gupta realeased that vijay is on son his past hits him like a lightening.

The direction by Yash chopra is good, as usual for amitabh movies and music by khayyam was good too.

The first scene in the movie where they show amitabh coming home to his mom when she is sick I watched that in govinda's movie in Raja babu in 1995 , where govinda is watching amitabh's movie and tells the theatre people to rewind the scenes. I went out and rented the movie and that one of the best movies ever made in bollywood with terrific performances I though.

Other good scenes was where amitabh wants shetty and his men out of the vacant land he wants to buy and build shanti incompany. He gives them time that he wants out of the land by the next day, and then the next day brings an ambulance and beat up shetty and his men.

The last scene where he confronts sanjeev kumar and tells him that he is son was the best scene in the movie.

The performance of course amitabh steals the show with his angry role, His dialogue delivery his emotional scenes you could only think of amitabh when watching the movie. Sanjev kumar does well as r.k. gupta who wants nothing but money. Shashi kapoor is alright. Raakhe and hema malini does well in the role given. Prem chopra is terrific as the villain.
