You know, there are some restaurants where you get everything and then there are some places which are popular for a specific product or food item. Tic Tic is of the second kind. If you are looking for good Katti Rolls in Chennai, I feel that you can find some at Tic Tac.

Where it Is

Tic Tac is located on the # 9, Montieth Road, Chennai. The most visible landmark would be the Alsa Mall, which is/was a popular hang-out for Yuppies. Tic-Tac is directly opposite Alsa Mall.

There is no provision for parking in front of the restaurant, but I have notice the manager giving 'Baksish' to the Police Wallah's so am sure that they won't bother you if you park the car on the side of the road.

What's Special

Eventhough, you get all sort for food stuffs(Limited Chinese and North Indian) at Tic Tac, I personally go there to eat the Katti Rolls. For those who don't know what a Katti Roll is, its basically a Parotha Roll stuffed with meat and other stuff. There are three basic categories:

Chicken,Mutton & Egg Rolls

Basically, these rolls are stuffed wither with Egg,Mutton or Chicken. Can be eaten with sauce or the Mint Chutney that they serve you. Price is around 30-40 bucks.

Chicken/Mutton Egg Roll

Bit more heavier then the previous one, its a Chicken roll with Egg in it. Very filling and more priced above the prevous category at around 40-50 bucks.

Chicken Tikka Egg Roll

This would be the most 'heavy' roll at the place. More expensive around 60-70 bucks and one roll is enough to fill you up. I made a mistake of ordering one Chicken Tikka egg roll and an Egg Parotha(Which I wanted to try once, its not worth the try, ignore it) and manage to finish the helping with great difficulty

It takes around 15 minutes to process your order and I would advice you that you order only one Roll at a time, and if you feel that you can go for another one, order it. You don't have to wait too long.

You can wash down the rolls with either Fresh lime soda or any soft drinks. The soft drinks are not very expensive over here.

Sevice and Others

I felt that the place was pretty decent. Its airconditioned and even though the number of waiters are less, they take care of you. The kitchen is just on the side and has got a glass wall so you can 'judge' how hygenic it is and how the chef looks like. You can see them making the stuff you have ordered, it offers some soft of comfort feeling.

The place is neat, its not very big, I think the capacity is around 30-40, but normally its not extremely crowded (It was not crowded whenever I visited the place).

If you don't want to venture out in the Chennai heat, you can ask for a home delivery of your favorite rolls. The number to call are 8412181 or 8415538. Normally on the weekends, when I have to work, I ask them to deliver the food at my office, they are pretty punctual.

So,if you like Katti Rolls, give Tic Tac a try, as far as the Chinese or North Indian stuff are concerned, there are better places around. (I will tell you more about those 'places' in my next set of reviews, so watch this 'space' or what ever..)

Peace
