Is it matching to your understandings of palmistry?  Is this you expect from a palmist?  As per my observation, most of the anxious people go to a palmist to hear about of future.   Did the web site tell the same?   "Our hands offer us an objective view of who we really are. Through the study of palmistry, we have the opportunity to see to what extent our thoughts and feelings influence our happiness and the harmony of those around us", Says the introduction of the web site.    Check their  FAQ, they clearly mentions  (https://palmistry.com/about/faq.html)  that it is not a fortune telling science but the intention is for personality assessment and counseling.   You cannot make predictions, but can judge the thought pattern and behaviour to foresee the affects.

Is this a kind of trick to attract people first and then make them curious?  If you are browsing through the web site you can see various palmistry oriented services palm reading, lessons and much more for reasonable prices to US or Canada standards.  You can also find a lot of other products like music, books, self helps in the form of meditation aid, Herbal products, maalas & magnetic necklaces..  One may tempt to pass comments on the side business they offer but I wish to side line it with a wish that those products may help those who believe in it.    It is their belief which working through them where the products are there as external objects to assist the process.

Let me now come to the main product, the palmistry.

Let me travel myself back to the college days….like any other boy of the age I was too eager to know about my future and one of my colleague who saw my hand first and prdicted I will have a good future, but moderate gains.  I felt just ok with that.

After some years I went to a palmist on the roadside just to test him he told me I will get a government job and I will go to gulf also.  I checked with him, how is it possible both at the same time?  (People in Kerala were jobless that time and the palmist knows exactly what we are looking for.)  Then he told a girl loves me.  I said.  Fine.   He promised me to tell the first letter of the alphabet if I pay Rs 50/-.  We have to remember it was the time where I can travel to my college and back for 20 paise.  I told him if she loves me she will tell it to me and why I should spend Rs50/- for her love?  Let her spend it, not me.

I was however curious to know the secrets of palmistry thinking, if there has some facts, why not locate it?  I got some basics from books.   Otherwise I used the book to read my hand only.    Later I was attending a student conference where representatives from various states gather for a live in program of a week.   Language was the best villain which prevented good interaction.  At the end of a week's program we got a day off and half of the people went out for shopping.  Since I was there for a day more, I decided to postpone my shopping for the next day and stayed in the compound.  While waiting I stared at one person's hand and told him your hand looks different…he was immediately curious and checked, if I am a palmist?  I said no but I know few lines.  I was studying graphology (through books) and had some idea how it works as well.  So I tried my luck with his hand.    I personally told as per my intuitions from the nature of his hand, its hardness, strength of the lines, his signature, his writing angles, pressure etc.  Luckily for me my positive talking impressed him and within minutes I could see a 40 plus students (boys and girls) from different parts of India queue to get their palms read.  When my friends come back after their shopping they start wondering what has changed all those who were not willing to mingle earlier.

I never practiced palmistry nor intend to practice.   (It is another matter that after this incident I had to oblige many requests for some time)  However, I mention this here to point out the strength of anxiety one person hold and how easy it is to manipulate the principle.  In most of the time fortune tellers give away positive predictions which make both parties happy.   The confidence out of positive thinking work for the client where money works for the palmist.

By reading and observing I come to one conclusion, which is confirmed by the web site.  i.e. our past and present has ability to leave impressions on our hand where our future does not have.    If a person who get angry fast and keep it for long periods, it can create vertical marks and a person who think deep for long hours can have horizontal lines on their forehead - our hands can have impressions as the results of our activities.  A child who is sick in childhood and had to undergo operation can have deep lines where a hard working person will have hard skin.  A person who always use point finger can have a line to show the posture as well.  If you try to change the lines…well….it is a kind of psychology.  If you wish and press hard to make your hand's line…you surely need to continue the process for months and years…that line may change.  If you are ready to take the same pain and efforts to achieve the objective - chances to achieve the objective is better.   That way, if you can change your line of your hand, you can change your future.

So…we come to final stage to have the conclusion.  To me the basic idea is acceptable to the extent, lines on our hand represent the activities we undertook so far and it will continue to change on course of time.
