Laff RAISERS....... Review on Five Best Hindi Comedy Movies

COMEDY FILMS are a rarity in Hindi cinema.but nevertheless there have been some great comedies, thanks to people like HRISHIKESH MUKHERJI, MEHMOOD, BASU CHATTERJI, KUNDAN SHAH and SAI PARANJPE.I have listed some of my favourite comedy films here, the films which make me laugh and forget my worries everytime I watch them.

1.*CHUPKE* *CHUPKE

DIRECTED BY:Hrishikesh Mukherji

CAST:Amitabh.B, Dharmendra, Sharmila.T, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash.

Chupke Chupke has to be one of the best comedies of all times.the film had all the ingredeints of a wholesome laugh riot and what I particularly loved about the film was the simplicity with which it was made, no buffoonary, no over-acting, just plain simple comedy.The dialogues were subtle and very well-written thus adding to the humour of the film.AMITABH BACHCHAN, OM PRAKASH, ASRANI and DHARMENDRA had such brilliant comic timing and they excelled in their respective roles.My favourite scene in the film are the ones where Dharmendra converses with OM PRAKASH in shuddh hindi and also the ones between Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, who mistakes him as the botany proffessor.Also loved the way Dharmendra addresses Omprakash as JIJAaaaa-Ji.I think no list of comedy films will be complete without the mention of this film.

2.*GOLMAAL

DIRECTED BY:Hrishikesh Mukherji

CAST:Utpal dutt, Amol palekar, Bindiya goswami.

This one is a laugh riot.from start to end.HRISHIKESH MUKHERJI had the talent to make the most simple yet amazing comedies.He also could extract great performances from his actors.One could not imagine GOLMAAL without UTPAL DUTT and AMOL PALEKAR.they were phenomenal in the film.Utpal dutt's acting had me in splits.esp the scene where Amol palekar comes for the first time to his office in his short kurta and oiled hair.the expression on Utpal dutt's face were toooo funny and also he had such a distinct way of speaking.Amol palekar as RAMPRASAD SHARMA and LUCKY was amazing too, he played both the contrasting characters so well.All in all a great comedy and a must watch.

3.*CHASHME* *BADDOOR

DIRECTED BY:SAI PARANJPE

CAST:Farouque sheikh, Dipti naval.

Well I loved this one.chashme baddoor rocked.It was such a light hearted fun film, no pretentions.All the actors came up such natural, down to earth performances.I loved FAROUQUE SHEIKH and DIPTI NAVAL(MISS CHAMKO) jodi and ofcourse they were such fine actors.RAKESH BEDI and RAVI BASWANI as Farouque's freind were adorable.both were so dumb and innocent, always chasing girls.Their expressions made me laugh.And not to forget Saeed Jafrey(LALLAN MIYA)as the paan wala, he was fantastic.CHASHME BADDOOR was like a breath of fresh air and I loved the film for its plain sensible comedy.

4.*ANDAAZ* *APNA* *APNA

DIRECTED BY:Raj kumar santoshi

CAST:Aamir khan, Salman, Raveena tondon, Karishma, Paresh rawal.

One of the best comedies ever.and I must also add that it is one of the most dumb film I have ever seen.AAA was a zany film and its on my list of most watchable films, i must have watched the film for more then hundred times but yet have not got bored of it.AAMIR and SALMAN(AMAR, PREM)excelled in their roles, besides being perfect foil to each other.My favourite scene from the film is the one towards the  end where Aamir and Salman have to make Paresh rawal sit on their Mopot.just watch that scene, IMO it is the most hilarious scene I have ever seen.The dialogues(UNCLE aa gaye, UNCLE aa gaye), the expressions on the actors face in that scene was to die for.And not to forget Shakti kapoor(MASTER GOGO), PARESH RAWAL and Ajit's son contribution in making the film so funny.

5.*HASEENA* *MAAN* *JAYEGI

DIRECTED BY:David Dhawan

CAST:Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Karishma kapoor, Anupam Kher.

Well I do not like David dhawan's kind of films but HMJ was an exception.The film was just too funny.It is one of those senseless potboilers where you have to leave your brains outside and just enjoy the film and have a hearty laugh.I loved the film for Govinda's antics.he has such a sharp sense of comedy, and he was particularly good in the second half, where he comes disguised as Sanjay Dutt's uncle.The way he called Anupam kher's name GUL-ZARI-LAL was soooo funny and also the way he reacts when he gets to know that Aruna irani has fallen for him was hilarious.Also PARESH RAWAL as the watchman, SATISH KAUSHIK(KUNJ BIHARI, kya baat hai tumhari)and Karishma kapoor were great in their roles.The dialogues were also very witty in the film.There was nothing extraordinary about this film but I loved it for its senseless comedy.

Apart from these films some of my other favourite comedies are NAMAK HALAL(I can walk in english, i can talk in english b'coz english is a very phunny language), CHAMELI KI SHAADI, CHOTI SI BAAT, KHOOBSURAT, KISSI SE NA KEHNA, HALF-TICKET, DO AUR DO PAANCH and of course JAANE BHI DO YAARON(cake scene was the best, THODA KHAYO, THODA PHEKO).I am sure all you guys must have watched these films but if you haven't make sure you do coz you should not miss anything that makes you laugh.
