A lot was expected from Siddharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho. The movie, however, falls flat on several fronts.
We have Jai Verma( Sidharth Malhotra) in the movie, who is a brilliant mathematician. He can solve maths problems so easily that even John Nash would be surprised. However, as expected, he does not have a way with his love life( love problems are difficult for him! lol). All through the movie, you see Jai with a perplexed look and clearly he faces trouble in pulling off such a huge role. His fiance Diya( Katrina Kaif) is an artist, who just wants to get married to Jai. However, Jai's weird attitude towards love pisses her off.
Now, the big change comes in the narrative and Jai somehow gets the ability to travel forward in time( theory of relativity smashed!). He visits several momentous events in his would-be married life like his honeymoon, his wife getting pregnant and his post-retirement life in London. The scenes look more cheesy than engaging. The movie gets reduced to a narrative dominated by the problems of balancing love life and work life.
Siddharth Malhotra definitely needs to improve his acting skills and for Katrina's acting, the lesser I say, the better it would be. However, their chemistry does look refreshing.
If you are a Kat fan, then you may as well go for it. However, you would be disappointed by the overused plot and minimal acting skills of the lead cast.
