I've been looking for this movie for a while now,since I red some reviews ,and I was very excited to see the movie ,first for aamir khan and second for the story knowing it was taking from a novel!
and now that I watched 1947EARTH,i couldn't wait to tell u what I think!
Can we breake a country?this the question that lenny baby asks her mother...and oh yes ,we can!
but, when u broke a country ,u broke the hope inside millions of human beens,and they are become beats and oh "allah ki mallik" that's exactly what ice candy wala,dilnawas sayed to shanta didi....
the film begins with a look at the peaceful life of commun people in the city of lahore ,nothing really matters at that time,we don't speak about religion or colour or class,everybody is enjoying the colour of the spring ....
but once the rumours about the partition of india have been spreaded ,the fair begun to take over and the most umbeleivable atrocities does happened....
the story goes in a smooth note and the watcher feels like he is a part from it,he is a caracter who belongs to this life ,but once the darkness of the violence overwellms the atmosphere ,u want to go but u can't because u are traped in the story....
the story moves the heart and thrills the mind.
AAMIR KHAN stands like a giant in the role of Dilnwaz ,The ice candy wala,he portrayed with ease the transition of a charming man to a dark soul with ease,he makes ur heart cry in the train scene,check out the emotions on his face , it's a treat to watch !and gets u troubled in the scene wherehe come to look for shanta didi!with nodoubt ,i think this is the best performance of aamir khan till today(i'm writing this taking in consideration RDB ,FANAA and lagaan)
all the other actors were good and fits!
AR RAHMAN music was terriffic ,he keeps it minimum to project the powerness of the lyrics written by javed akhtar!i personnaly like "RAAT KI DALDAL HAIN",oh it deos give u chills!
to sum up,EARTH 1947 is a rare quality film that scores in all the notes,DEEPA MEHTA has done a great job!it's a much watch for everybody who seeking of cinema that shakes the brain and the heart at the same time!its a changing life experience for me!
buy the dvd and make sure to put it in a very special place deserved by a very special film!
