Believe This ... You'll Believe Anything is an extremely believable yarn by the famous author James Hadley Chase. It tells the story of a man who tries to chase (no pun intended) his old flame, Val, who had left him six years ago.
He is unhappily married to another woman when an opportunity of a job brings him back in contact with Val. She is already married to an industrial magnate, who, she claims, is supposedly ''controlling'' her by hypnosis. She is a walking zombie, always at the beck and call of her tyrant husband. Our hero takes up a job in the same company that Val's husband is running, and comes very close to her. He even renews sexual relations with her.
The twists and turns that the story takes are very unexpected, and make one read the story at a rapid pace. A re-reading is needed to better appreciate the finer aspects of the story.
Do read it. It is not as well-known as the other Chase books, but it is equally readable.
