Purchased this product online via EurekaForbes official website in June 2018.
Worked flawlessly till July 2019. i.e. 1 year.
Then renewed Annual Maintenance Contract on Aug 2019 for another year(i.e. till July 2020).
Cartridges were replaced in Aug 2019 but this time cartridges/membranes did not even last 8+ months!
Before February 2020 end, the system completely went silent with glowing service red coloured led on its panel.
Called AquaGuard CustomerCare, the technician came and advised that the membranes have expired! In hardly 7 months normal usage i.e. approx. 10~15 litres water per day, the membranes were expired! How ridiculous!
They promise the membrane expiry to last about approximately 6000 litres of pure water. i.e. approx.16+ litres water per day for 365 days= 6000 litres water total.
But we are a family of 4, hardly use about 10 to max-to-max 15 litres water per day. i.e. 7 months= 730= 210 days.
210 days @ 15 litres/day consumption(maximum)= 3150 litres water!
That means, these membranes/cartridges did not even last their half life!
How ridiculous have EurekaForbes made of their reliability!? They asked us to shell another Rs.5000 to get the membranes replaced and new ones installed. What is the point of calling AMC an annual maintenance contract when they are taking money every six months for the normal functioning of the RO machine. Instead of calling it AMC and making fool of your clients, it would be better to call this a HYMC(i.e. half yearly maintenance contract)! Just my suggestion!
Secondly, to continue with their monopoly, they have added a German company Infineon's'origa' technology in this RO system. One cannot even buy cartridges at low price from non-propriety local market and install them inside this machine. Because the ORIGA technology ensures that only chip enabled membranes are installed that communicate with the RO system's electronics and only then this RO will work. These chips have cryptography private keys in them that are astoundingly difficult to break into. This German company infineon supplies the same security technology to Fujitsu, Simens, SonyPS3, etc. devices.
In general public domain there have been only 2 cases till date where the TPM Trusted Platform Module of Infineon has been hacked. One by using an electronic microscope by Christopher Tarnovsky who presented the results of his hack at the Black Hat 2010 conference. And second by discovering a vulnerability in the TPM by security researchers at Masaryk University. The vulnerability allowed a attacker to compute an RSA private key from the value of the public key.
We totally understand that the EurekaForbes wishes to continue with their business and not let the local membranes fill up their machines/cabinets. Because that will be counterproductive to their business. Hence the cryptography ORIGA security chip enabled membranes and RO system. But, at least honor the 12 months annual contract or the 6000 litres pure water promises!
We reckon, that to make more money and profit they have enabled the timer circuit inside ORIGA, that instead of 12 months expiration, the membranes will now stop working at just 6 months or 3000 litres permeate / product water!
This is highly appalling business strategy and will definitely pull your business down EurekForbes. Continue with the reliability and deliver on your promises otherwise you are not going to last any long in the competitive market.
I do not recommend buying this machine or any machine for that matter from EurekaForbes. People, do your research first and then shell out your hard earned money.
