I received a promotional discount coupon on Google Pay offering ₹300₹4000 off on flight bookings made through the Ixigo app. I redeemed the offer and downloaded the app to proceed with the booking.
I searched for a Delhi to Mumbai flight. The initial displayed fare was approximately ₹5, 400. On the next page, the fare increased to around ₹5, 700. I was then shown an option to lock the price for ₹689, which I paid separately to secure the fare.
The ₹400 discount coupon was not adjusted against the ₹689 price-lock charge. It was redeemed later during the final payment stage. However, even after applying the ₹400 discount, I was still required to pay ₹6, 552 as the final ticket amount.
Effectively, the total cost would have been ₹6, 552 + ₹689 = ₹7, 241 for the same flight.
For comparison, I booked the exact same flight from another source at ₹6, 000.
In my experience, the advertised discount did not result in any real savings. The pricing structure was confusing, and the so-called promotional coupon offered no meaningful benefit. Customers should be cautious, as many such discount coupons on Google Pay appear attractive but may not translate into actual savings.
I would strongly advise users to verify the final payable amount carefully and compare prices across platforms before completing any booking.
