Excellent review, Geeta Everyone’s commenting on Ra.One nowadays, so let me have my say too. I would refrain from pointing out the flaws in the movie as there are too many to point out. There are few things to be clarified to the SRK fans, the trade analysts and the producer. SRK in his i...nterviews claims that his movie is for family and children and even managed to get a U certificate. I wonder how considering that there are breast- touching, Crotch grabbing and butt smacking scenes. Not to speak about kareena mouthing expletives and even the child artist mouthing the condom dialogue along with SRK and Kareena. The movie is titled “Ra.one”, but all we got to see in the movie is G.One. Ra.One (Arjun Ramphal) appeared very late in the second half. This is why the movie failed. A super hero movie can succeed only if the villain is strong and his role is well defined and substantial. The trade analysts and the media are all over the place claiming Ra.One to have broken Box office record of Bodyguard and creating history at Box office, etc. Bodyguard which cost 60 crores and released in 2700 prints grossed 52.50 crores in 3 days whereas ra.one which cost 150 crores and released in 3500 prints grossed only 53 crores. Therefore Bodyguard has made more profit than Ra.one. The 3rd day collections of Ra.One are far less than that of Dabangg and Ready. Then there is praise for Ra.One that this “Indian movie” is of International standards and special effects are mind blowing. But the reality is that the technicians (editor, special effects, cinematography, music) are all foreigners. So how much Indian is this movie considering that the “international aspect” of this movie is handled by the foreign crew. The movie was doomed before the release as all that SRK talked about the movie in his pre-release interviews and shows Amjad K. Maruf Read More

Hi Next time you write a review see to it that you only talk about the merits and demerits of the movie and not what actors do in real life - whether they fight terrorists or sleep with a gun. BTW, what do you do for your country apart from may be paying taxes. Keep writing Amjad Maru...f Read More

Hi Jairaj,, Thanks for your comments. I never wrote that 'only I' knew memento. In fact even me, like many others came to know about memento due to Ghajini. I hope this clarifies things. And I liked your views on memento. As for six packs of SRK you have to read the reviews. Keep writing Am...jad Maruf Read More

Hi Absolutely rocking review. And you are right. If SRK had been the movie then everyone would have gone ga ga over it. As for awards - Aamir is simply not interested. That SRK will get it for Rab ne is a given. Filmfare is biased. Keep writing Amjad Maruf

Ghajini has two tones, primarily. One that shows Sanjay locked in the grim darkness of his revenge, where the word Ghajini is driving him and the other where the film ends up locking Sanjay in. That might as well be heaven, where he is locked with the divine Asin, and love is guiding him. Don’...t ask serious questions about rationale and you won’t get any wrong answers in this movie. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the great entertainer of 2008. Finally, the only time the audience hated Aamir in the movie was when he leaves his cell phone in the car when Asin calls for help. If this does not convince the critics that the movie connected with the audience. Nothing will. AMJAD K. MARUF Read More

What I would have liked to see in the movie: Interesting complications like all Aamir’s clues being destroyed are resolved in simple ways. But would it have been digestible to the viewer if Aamir with all the clues gone, had still managed to track the killer. It would have interesting to... know how Aamir transformed from a suave tycoon to a revenge-seeking person. Cast: Asin impresses in her debut and though she goes a little overboard in comic scenes she makes it up by acting brilliantly in the second half when she acts serious. When she is scared, we are scared for her too. When she helps a few kids glide past an obstacle or helps a blind man her generosity feels straight from almighty. Aamir pushes the envelope all the time. There isn't much of dialogue for him but his well-toned physique, facial expressions and body language does all the talking. Aamir adds his own touch to both the humorous and the intense portions of the film. A rich business man, a lover boy and a short-term memory loss patient - Aamir is absolutely convincing in all the roles. Pradeep Rawat and Jiah Khan are strictly okay. Before the films release, Aamir had said that if people walk out with his 8 pack abs in mind, then the movie has failed to connect. But thankfully the audience did not talk about Aamir’s physique but the movie. So the movie did connect with the audience. Read More

“There is a very little difference between arrogance and confidence -‘I can’ do it is confidence and ‘Only I’ can do it is arrogance”"B", Aamir Khan (quote from Ghajini) SRK and Akshay Kumar consider only themselves as entertainers and no one else. Hi That was a wonderful review. Very impressive. I hope that audience watches this movie as a regular bollywood movie rather than expecting it to be a 'hatke' movie as Aamir usually does. Aamir had clearly mentioned in all his prerelease interviews that audience will be surprised to see Aamir w...orking in a formula film after doing so many different kind of movie in the recent past. Morever comparisons with Memento is useless as the movie had to adapted to suit the Indian audience. Keep writing Amjad Maruf Read More

Hi Nidhi Lovely review. But I fail to understand that in spite of you mentioning about flaws in direction and screenplay you gave a 4 star rating to the movie. Remember it is the movie you are rating for and not for the performance of the actor :) Keep writing Amjad Maruf

Swati: Thanks for your comments. I hope you are still interested in watching this movie. Sindhu: THanks for your comments. Actually judging from the promos I had an inkling that his movie would be a good one but it was not to be. Lazylump: Thanks for your comments. Ofcourse the theatres would... be full in the first week end. What's new about this? But what about week days where the movie was running to empy halls. YRF releases press statement that Rab ne has grossed 60 crores and gullible people like you lap it up without even knowing the facts. A movie that did not have a great start on friday and which has opened to mixed reviews cannot gross such a big amount. Even the biggest blockbuster movie could never garner such a big amount in 3 days. IT is not possible. But then YRF and SRK are master manipulators of BO collections and the media and trade is just helping them out. Keep writing Amjad Maruf Read More

Hi Everybody, Karan: Thanks for your comments, Yes, its time the SRK fans castigate their idol for unleashing such movies on them time and again, Dinesh: Thanks for your comments. SRK was looked too old to pass of as a cool dude in the movie. In comparison, Aamir and Salman look far younger th...an him. Sajit: Thanks for your comments. I have read your review and loved it. You seem to have recieved lots of brickbats for your diatribe against this movie and SRK. These SRK fans can get very mean :) Ajeet: Thanks for your comments. I think SRK's downslide has begun with this movie. This movie would turn out to be just an average earner at the BO. It will slide downwards from monday. Ravi: Thanks for your comments. I have gone through your review. Even I experienced the audience's boredom while watching the movie. Yes, Anoushka did a good job considering it was her first movie. Nidhi: Thanks for your comments. Of course I remember you. After watching the promos of Rab ne, I had expected the movie to be a good one but was disappointed big time and hence I felt the need to vent my frustration out here on MS :) I know you are a big SRK fan and would look forward to your review. My problem was not with the concept of the movie but the execution part as I have mentioned in the movie. As you have written in one your comments somewhere that movie is about embracing reality and ignoring fantasy, I would like to say that if this was the case then more emphasis should have been given to Surinders and Taani's love story and how they got close to each other through some well written scenes but all we got was Raj and Taani. Thanks everyone for your comments. Keep writing. Amjad Maruf Read More

Ratnakar: Thanks for your comments. I have read your review and commented on it. Ilyas Mohamed: Thanks for your comments. You are absolutely right. It is the British government that has allowed Shilpa to win because they wanted to salvage some pride after all that racism tamasha. Faraz: Thanks... for your comments. Yes, money surely talks. I completely agree with your views. Since Shilpa was there in the show in her personal capacity there was no need for the government to interfere in the matter. In fact the whole drama has trivialised the issue of racism. Amjad
