Life is cheap in this part of the world, and doctors are super-greedy. It took me two years to understand this. India does not have anything like HIPAA, so doctors can do pretty much anything with your sensitive medical information. This implies that online pharmacies such as 1MG, PharmEasy, and Net...meds have nothing stopping them from selling your medical records to anyone, including dubious health insurance companies, like Star Health Insurance.

This doctor was very greedy, and he scanned and sent all her sensitive medial records to Star Health Insurance—without her consent.
Star Health Insurance denies claims by hook or crook. They get the claimant's previous medical records from panel doctors and *possibly* online pharmacies. Star Health Insurance used this information maliciously to deny my sister her hospital claim based on some obscure detail that they claimed indicates a preexisting condition. This was not true—she did not have any preexisting condition. So, after diligently paying Star Health Insurance for many years, my sister had to sell all her jewelry to pay her hospital bill because the hospital will not release you until you pay.
Her mistake was to give Indian doctors the benefit of the doubt.Read More
