In **Chennai, ** the places of attractions are worst maintained and not at all encouraging for any tourists. When we took a trip to the so called tourist attracted places **Mahabalipuram, Dolphin City and Little Folks on Friday(15th-Jan-2009)** we felt very bad and got frustrated.
The Mahabalipuram's main entry road was closed to public vehicles due to the ruling party politicians visits to **"Chennai Sangamam" **. The vehicles were stopped and diverted to the place near 5 rathas. Due to this, many places could not be covered by any normal tourist by walk or even by vehicle. So we were able to visit only 2 places and got exhausted.
So we were decided to proceed to Little Folks. The Little Folks got closed before 3 years and none of the websites about Chennai tourism were not informed/reflected about this. Though we got dejected we just gave an entry to Dolphin City which is just adjacent to Little Folks. We paid Rs. 80 per head and(Actually the ticket price is Rs.100 and due to very few visitors even on holiday the counter staff herself reduced the ticket tariff to Rs. 80) got in.
Dolphins were died due to some poisonous gas generated through the artificial cooling system some time around 2003. Now Sea lions are only performing. Actual time of the show should prolong to 30 minutes which is written on paper but the show did not even prolong for 15 minutes and only one sea lion got engaged(others were just caged) which was not also properly trained and the trainer did not give much work to it. The children were very much disappointed. Dolphin City has more than 2 acres of land which is not at all used and worst maintained.
Chennai is one among the 4 metropolitans which should promise lot more attractions to the tourists such as underwater world, scuba diving etc.
Do not select Chennai as your tourist spot until it turn a real metropolitan.
