The SKIMS is a tertiary care institute in Kashmir. It's a deemed University having its own Medical College called as Jehlum Valley College and it also runs some Post graduate courses in Medicine.
Although it is the best medical institute of Kashmir valley but due to the shortage of Staff snd modern diagnostic equipment it's unable to cater to the needs of whole population. It is often forced to refer patients to institutions outside the state like PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS, Fortis, etc
To take some consultation or appointment there a Patient needs to wait for months together.
Academic Programme is going fine you hardly ever hear a complaint about the college functionality.
Administration : college is also suffering from staff shortage due to bad administration by state government. And political parties have hijacked the agenda of everything. They do everything for their own benefits not for a great institute like SKIMS.
Extra Curricular Activities are conducted in college like games seminars and workshops it has made a high reputation in extra Curricular Activities.
Alumni Network is very good and people working or studied here have made a mark across the world
