I generally travel by VRL bus. Last time I travelled from Bangalore to Ichalkaranji through SRS bus. The journey was pathetic. The bus engine broke down 3 times in the night and they not even bothered to call for a spare bus. Finally they managed to repair it and my journey was delayed 5 hours. I took return tickets on the same day, and the same bus broke down again while coming back. They not even repaired it before returning. Again my journey was delayed by 2 hours.
One more thing that I observed was they were taking passengers in between roads from Kohlapur to Sankeswar and Nippani just by taking cash. So I was worried about my baggage and could not sleep because of that since many strangers ware allowed in the bus. I believe SRS should not allow any passengers without tickets or reservations. I feel driver and Cleaner are making money by taking on-road passengers.
Overall, I will never travel through SRS.
