An ajith film after a long time, made in a short time by veteran director P Vasu after his mega hit Chandramukhi. All that was enough to take me to the theatre on the pongal day. Ajith fan club had booked the whole day's show and they were selling the tokens for the film outside the theatre. There were big banners depicting Ajith as Lord Paramasivan. Also there were slogans written against his rival actor. The tokens were sold at a rate of Rs. 80/-, quite a high amount for a city like Madurai. I went inside the theatre with great expectation.

The story is about how a death sentenced prisoner is used to destroy the terrorist attack in Tamilnadu. Police officer Nandakumar (Prakashraj) chooses the prisoner Subramanyam Siva (who else, Ajit!) for his secret mission(!?) to destroy the terrorists. I was totally disappointed to see the introduction of Ajit. His hairstyle with that long hair wig is awful. Nandakumar brings out Subramanyam Siva intelligently and fakes him to be dead. Subramanyam Siva is now transformed into 'Paramasivan'. Thank god, he sports his own grown hair from then onwards. He is sent to Ooty by Nandakumar. He falls in love with Laila whose family is staying there in the same house. The lead pair's love story is neither romantic nor justified. 'Paramasivan' executes the plan by Nandakumar. At times, the audience doubt whether the hero is Ajit or Prakashraj. The hero(supposed to be), does nothing on his own and executes whatever is told by the Prakashraj. The hero has a cliched flashback of why he came into jail. On the other hand CBI officer Nair (Jayaram) along with his assistant Agniputran (Vivek) investigates the mystery in the death of Subramanyam Siva. These pair tickle you at times.

The second half of the film is filled with action sequences, bike chases etc. The action sequences are good except for few awry graphics. 'Paramasivan' kills one by one the terrorists and saves tamilnadu's IT professionals from bomb blast. The screenplay is neither tight nor unpredictable. Prakashraj wants to kill Paramasivan after the mission is complete, as he is a death sentenced prisoner. But, there is a twist in the tale (!?) at the climax. The biggest joke is cracked by Jayaram at the climax!

Ajit has shed a lot of kilos to look smart. But he looks very lean and pathetic. If he sheds some more, then Dhanush would look better. Laila has nothing to do in the film except to irritate us at times. Vidyasagar's music is also a total letdown. Ajit should concentrate in choosing the right story that suits him. The only scene where audience were clapping is when Rajni appears in the screen.

Please go to the film only if you have booked the tickets already!
