Matheran is very near to Mumbai. You can go by suburb train. It will take 2 Hours from Kurla to reach Neral. Then you have to go by Toy Train. It's nice experiance.
Matheran is Pollution free place as no vehicals are allowed to be there. If you are visiting it in off season then you will enjoy it at very much. All the points are good. To see them you have to plan your daily schedule. Like wakeup early in the morning then go to points, comback have a lunch take rest and in the after noon once again go to see the points.
You will find many gujaratis over there.
