The Temple built here at the Bodhi tree under which Goutama Buddhab have attained the perfect insight and gained the truth of Dharma.
It has been a holy pilgrimage for Buddhists all over the world visiting here for over 2000 years. The temple was first built by the Buddhist Emperor Asoka to protect the tree and the eternity of that holy place.
The present structure is then constructed later that was also about 200 years from the earlier one. It has been recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site. The temples original and old antic pieces , sculptures were moved to the museum behind the temple.
The main temple Shikara was 55mtr. high made of bricks covered with Stucco a material that hardens after applying used all over the temple for artistic sculptures, ceiling and walls.
