Story:

Lajja, the controversial novel by a Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, is an example of religious extremism and man's inhumanity to man.

It is the patriotic story of a Bengali family 'duttas'.

Sudhamoy with his wife Kironmoyee and two children who lived in Bangladesh. They were among the few Hindus which was considered as a minority community in Bangladesh. When the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in India was destroyed by a mob of Hindus the effects of it were felt on Bangladesh. The Muslims in Bangladesh exploited the Hindus. They treated them like dirt and asked them to convert and accept Islam or leave the country. Many of Sudhamoy's friends and relatives left the country to seek refugee in India. But Sudhamoy, an atheist believes with optimism that his motherland wont let him down.

This book also reviels in detail about the incidents occured in 1990. The Torture and trouble that the Hindus had to face in Bangladesh is heart touching.
