Judo is the Japanese for of self defense in the martial arts.
There are many colored belts that are awarded as one goes up the ranks and advances to the next level. Judo use to be used to teach children self defense and confidence.
It is a martial art and is known for its teaching of how to throw someone. Sometimes quite swiftly and gracefully to the ground.
Once you know Judo, you have much less worry of being confronted on the streets. That is why it is nice for children, especially if they are being bullied.
This goes for females as well as males.
This is a sport where self disapline and respect for oneself as well as others is taught.
