Gotham is about the dark times in Gotham City, before Batman. It not only tells us about the origin of Batman but other DC Comics as well. Like Joker, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn etc. But I came to dislike the series because of the following reasons:
It is dark and monotonous. The first season; Jim Gordon just chalks up anti-heroes in a single episode. The villains don't get the time they deserve. There aren't many colors.
Jim Gordon, portrayed by Ben Mckenzie is not the perfect choice.
The show is a little confusing. The city, villains, cars etc are shown to be of the 90s but the characters use computers and cellphones.
This show is best only for hard-core Batman fans. Not Everybody.
