Dap is product which is available from speedbit for quite some time now.
It can be downlaoded from the website http://www.speedbit.com or from any of the sites
- Shareware.com or download.com.
I first used DAPabout 4 years back, as connections then was restrictive and would frequently conk off.
Dap proved to be quite a reliable tool which ensured that the downlaods continued from the time the connection got cut. That was the sole purpose as to why I had got DAP and it did a lot of good.
As mentioned, It didnt increase the download rate by 300 %, The maximum I would say is about 25 - 35 % increase in the download speeds, I was using the FREE Version.
The premium version comes for about US $ 50.00 odd and can be checked up at the website https://speedbit.com. The base free version also supports just about any download. If one has used any windows based product, The tool is very much self explanatory and useful.
One word of caution - go for the free version only unless u have 2200 rs to spare !!
