Just bought a Dell Desktop Inspiron 545s. Great for everyday work. Comes with Windows 7 Home Basic and all the required basics. Won't go into technical details or configuration. Intel 7500 processor, 320 GB HDD, 3 GB RAM, no speakers. Am quite happy with it. Similar product would have cost me slightly less in other companies but they were not giving Windows 7. Their dealers still pushing pirated XP but I wanted Windows 7 and legal OS.
Takes time for delivery though and their call centre/helpline etc are closed on Sat/Sun so no go on those days. They have tied up with Blue Dart for delivery which is quite competent. Then you call/email for a technician to come to unpack and install the computer. All charges to be paid in advance by creditcard. From placing of order to final installation it took 8 days for me. Total cost Rs 28, 400/-.
In US they are offering next in line Inspiron 546 for USD 499 with Windows 7 Home Premium and free delivery. So cost is high in India on a comparative basis. Offering AMD processor and 2 GB RAM in that though. Hope Dell will stop giving India a step motherly treatment and give us also the latest from their product line.
Overall a good product. Will recommend it.
