Pyramids, although one of the Discworld series is not about any of the following characters Death, Rincewind the Wizard, The Witches or the City Guards although Death makes his guest appearance as usual.
Pyramids follows the fortune of Pteppic who is a prince of Djelibeybi a kingdom on the Disc, who due to lack of family money is sent to train as an assasin at their famous guild in Ankh-Morpok. Shortly after passing his final exam (following a scene that has to be the funniest take on the UK Driving Test)he finds that he has inherited the throne after the sudden death of his father (whose none to happy about it either). According to custom Pteppic has to build his father a tomb and it is here where things start going very wrong and it is left to Pteppic along with a few friends to put things right.
This is one of the Discworlds true stand alone novels. You don't need to know any history about any of the characters or places. It is a very good book and is very amusing.
