Note: This is not a review - just revealing the plot before you so that you will take some interest to watch this movie.

Alfred Hitchcock

Sir Alfred Hitchcock can be called as the father of suspense thriller movies.

The suspense and the gallows humour that had become Hitchcock's trademark in film continued to appear in his productions.

Psychoreleased in 1960 also falls into this category and can be considered as a classic suspense thriller. This movie is based on the famous novel with the same name by Robert Blcoh.

The crimes committed by Edward Theodore Geinwas another inspiration for this movie.

Also, this is not a review - but just presenting the plot of the movie and some specialities so that you will definitely watch this movie.

Plot summary - Please take a deep breath as it is going to be quite interesting - Hmmmm Ahhhh

- Marione Crane steals a big some from her office and drives to california where his love Sam lives. She steal this money to support Sam

  • After having some tough times with cops on the way, she reaches Bates Moteland found that no other guests were present

  • She was welcomed by Norman Batesthe young and handsome owner of the motel who told her that his business has come down.

  • Bates suggested that Marione can have food from their home. While waiting she heard heated argument between Norman and his mother becauase she though that Norman is having an affair with the lady

  • While having food Norman shares his agony to manage his disturbed mother and he cannot leave that place leaving her alone etc. Marione decide to stay in the hotel as the stolen money can cause some trouble if she decide to drive that night

  • When she undresses in her room next door while Norman watches through a peephole in the wall of his office.

  • When she was taking a shower a human body enters the bathroom and stabs Marion to death

  • Normal later found the corpse and was shocked to death. How ever, he manages to clean the bathroom, keep her body in a trunk in her car and finally disposes the car.

  • Later - Marion's employer engages a private detective Abrogast to enquire about Marion and the money they lost. Abrogast's enquirty was extended upto Bates Motel and he interrogates Norman. He also wanted to speak to his mother but Bates vehemently rejects this request

  • Abrogast was not convinced and sneaks into Bates house to interrogate his mother but he was stabbed to death

Who is this killer?

-Finally Sam and Marion's sister Lila acted as married couple reaches Bates  Motel and took a room

  • While Sam distracted Norman's attention Lila sneaked into their home in search of Bate's mother

  • She was shocked to find that his mother is a semi preserved corpse.

  • During the argument - Norman hit Sam and reaches where Lila was hiding and wore his mother cloths and wigs tried to kill Sam but this time he gains consciousness and manages to escpae

Finally

The psychiatrist Fred Richmond explains the dual personality disease of Norman who was very much attached to his mother. When his mother found a new love he became jealous and killed her lover and mother. His guilty conscience never allowed him to belive that his mother is murdered and hence he preserved her corpse and he incorporated the persona of his mother as a separate part of his psyche.Because Norman was very jealous of his mother while she lived, he imagined that Mother would be equally jealous of any woman to whom he might be attracted, to the point of murdering them.

The last scene shows Norman Bates seated in a cell. His mind is now completely dominated by the persona of his mother. We hear "her" internal voice as a voice-over. She blames Norman, and plans on demonstrating to the authorities that it was Norman who did the crimes, whereas she is utterly harmless. Also, finally Marion's car was discovered by cops.

Last note Famous Shower Scene ---

Murder of Marion while she took shower is one of the most famous scene in the history of movies. It is shot .

In order to capture the straight-on shot of the shower head, the camera had to be equipped with a long lens. The inner holes on the spout were blocked and the camera placed farther back, so that the water appears to be hitting the lens but actually went around and past it

The music was incorporated later with the special request of composer and Hitchcok"s plan was to shoot it with out music. Also, the sound of knife piercing the flesh was done with such perfection.

So --- want to try out pshycho!
