Twinkle Twinkle little star, Anna is a Super Star

Whew! Thanks for this rant - it was such a relief that there are saner people who are able to look past the smoke screen at the reality! While congress squirms and wonders how they can get out of this one - I guess the one good thing that will come out of this is that people will think a bit about b...eing so openly corrupt. Of course they'll still do it, but I'm guessing not so blatantly. At least I hope so. And people have learnt to raise their voice. Finally. For me these are the two positives. And I hope it all leads to something good in the end. In any case, it got me to come here and comment :)Read More

Congrats Sam! On your first FP! And such a sweet one at that! Indeed you cannot attempt to teach morals to this new gen. They end up teaching you so much more!!! But yeah he will learn in his own way. Congrats again Sam :)

Old woman in the rain

Nov 24, 2009 12:29 PM (Updated Nov 24, 2009 12:30 PM)

JAMs Thanks for your message! It inspired me to log on here. Been busy at work! And just to complete the old woman’s story. She stayed in the rain for 3 whole days - and despite our best efforts we could not get help for her. Finally a tea shop owner called the cops and they in turn called in an amb...ulance. She was taken to the hospital in a pretty bad state. I don’t think she would have survived. But least she would have died with dignity. I salute the tea shop guy who made the extra effort and finally achieved what none of us could! Thanks as well to Nisha, Sam and Megna. Sam - got your message too. :)Read More

Syd - that perhaps is the most honest review I've read in a long time. Acutally, I usually do that - if I want to watch a movie I usually don't read too many reviews on it. Then I like to write my own honest feelings down without it getting tainted by others' views. I can see that is what you have d...one here. But hey...you mention nothing about the Saif - Kareena chemistry that the movie is piggy-backing on!!??? I guess the surprise packages in the movie were the most effective huh??Read More

What’s prayer, really?

Sajith I’m glad I wrote this post because it helped me understand the power of prayers better. JAMs, Jairaj, Hemani and now you have raised some really valid points. And I agree with you all - yes in many ways prayers do help us feel calm. Sometimes just listening to a chant feels so good. The vibra...tion one feels when listening to the vedas being recited is incredible. So yes there is a power. And you are right it does inculcate a sense of disciple. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. And also many thanks to JAMs and Jairaj for helping me put things in perspective :)Read More

Old woman in the rain

Nov 05, 2009 11:19 AM (Updated Nov 05, 2009 11:22 AM)

contd... It’s so unfair that she is left uncared for in her old age. But then who said that life is fair? Such incidents make me believe in ’karma’. What they say about the deeds of one ‘janma’ bearing fruits in the next one. Otherwise what is the logic behind such misery? Why must she suffer alone?... For me the worst part really is not her pain or her misery – but the fact that she is alone and unloved. That no one needs her. No one misses her. Or else why would she be wandering the streets alone? My efforts to find her a refuge are on. Even as the rain lashes on and I imagine her huddled inside the plastic bag. Hopefully numb to all the pain and misery she is undergoing.Read More

November is monsoon time in Chennai. After a sweltering summer and then a second summer that struck us all in October we’d had just about enough of the sun.
