First, a story from a MouthShut.com member that shows we are making a positive difference: Pradeep Chopra is an IIT Delhi Graduate who co-founded OmLogic. I am also privileged to count him as a friend. Pradeep shared the following in an email (certain portions underlined for emphasis):


Recently, I had a terrible experience with Apple MacBook and Apple India. I posted a review at your community and only then Apple listened and actually gave me a new laptop. Thanks to your community and its power...Fortunately, the review is being read by around 6000 people and people have been writing to me whether they should be Apple MacBook.

It may not be obvious, but there are three heroes in this story: Hero #1: Pradeep is definitely to be commended for not settling for a faulty, malfunctioning product. The respect he got from Apple was well-deserved. Hero #2: We also want to tip our hat to Apple. It may have taken them some time, but they eventually did the right thing. In the long run this will result in more business for Apple than the cost of one bad laptop that they replaced. Hero #3: Last but certainly not least, notice how Pradeep recognized and thanked the community. He is thanking you, me and everyone who reads, writes and comments on reviews and posts at MouthShut.com. We are making a difference!

I am pleased to announce the Beta availability of MouthShut Mobile. MouthShut.com members can now send SMS reviews from anywhere on any product/service using their mobile phone. I ruminate, deliberate and cogitate over the opinions you express, I am inspired by them and it's the stuff that keeps me going.

At MouthShut.com I can write reviews or just wax eloquent in My Diary; I can see what highly customer-centric companies are doing by reading their Corporate Blogs; I can read up on small businesses in my city in MouthShut Local. As I do all this I make friends in this community, so I decide to share pictures in a handy Photo Gallery. And now I can now walk around town ready to sing praises and level (God help me, hopefully constructive) criticism against anyone using MouthShut Mobile. I pledge to you that we will continue to add and enhance features that improving the overall MouthShut.com member experience. In the journey to getting there we will incorporate a lot of your ideas and suggestions and sometimes we might simply disagree. Clearly, as one MouthShut.com member pointed out, while everyone has opinions, including everyone's opinions is practically impossible. Where we disagree, let us still stay friends and keep a good, even spirited discourse going. Disagreements are sign of strength if it is channeled with mutual respect. I promise to do my part towards this. Who knows, today we may disagree but tomorrow our opinions may begin to converge.

Towards this, let me be the first to admit that I appreciate privacy concerns over Photo Gallery expressed by some members. We will soon introduce a feature where you can share your photos either with the entire community or only with members of your Trusted Circle. Ultimately you will have control over this feature and the extent to which you share your personal photos. I think this allows us the use of the feature while blocking the potential misuse.

I look forward to continued dialogue as we build more and grow further!
