Its very unlikely that when you are free and independent you don't have boundaries. India is free country but it is surrounded by neighboring countries and obviously nobody can barge in our internal affairs and we cannot barge in their internal affairs. Any kind of intervention is looked upon as offence and can turn into major fight. Likewise we all live in free country and can consider our self as free citizen. Constitution also gives us some birth rights which can be enjoyed by everyone irrespective of sex, religion, caste, age etc.
But is there a cost associated with the Freedom? Off course there is. We are not suppose to intervene in somebody else life and guide them. In fact in today's world people wants everyone to get changed but what about themselves. Nobody wants to change. In their own eyes they are perfect, in fact they are the role models, but they never seek feedback from others. They don't want to do corrections in themselves. On the contrary for most of us, the problem lies outside of us and we are the sufferer.
Whenever you drive, don't you feel irritated whenever you find road clogged with jams, people jumping red lights and people driving insanely. We get angry and it leads to unwanted and unnecessary fights on the road. Sometimes this so called road rage gets so much out of control people gets killed or injured. They in fits of anger damage the vehicles. Don't we expect from the starting that there will be jams and people will drive crazy. Some will take wrong turn and jump red lights. Everyone is in hurry nobody likes to wait, but ain't we sometimes do the same mistake and want others to show leniency. You know we want others to be adjusted and when we required being adjustable we get furious.
This is all about double standards. We want freedom but often ignore responsibility associated with it. Nothing comes free in this world and I like adage they use in US "There are no free lunches", everything comes with a cost. If we want freedom, remember it is applicable for everybody. When we want to change someone, we have to bring that change in us first. Why we forget that not only we but everybody else is human too. If we can do the mistakes, they too can do it. If commit, we want sympathy, it others commit we get angry. This will lead us no where. If there are mistakes and they are tackled with perception they can be addressed. Bring tolerance, patience.
I know there are moments in everyone else's life when they cannot afford to keep the tolerance or can understand. But those are the moments of test. If you failed, you have again to start learning from scratch. But there are limited chances and so less time. So make most of it. Don't enjoy only free open road, but mistakes of others as well. You never know your forgiveness may lead to some friendship. Some smile may win you heart.
In last, nothing comes easy in this life, and you are not the only one. We have to live together and a small change can bring big rewards. Freedom is there for everyone and there is astrix on it too, with conditions apply. Remember to read them before enjoying your rights.
