I bought this phone for my sister in November 2015 from Amazon. Got some discount on festival season. Actually the first redmi 2 prime was defective so we replaced it from them. Second redmi 2 prime is working very well.
This is her first android phone she is enjoying it though user interface is different from traditional Android. I compared this phone with my old Zenfone 5 and trust me it is way better than Zenfone 5 on every aspects. Redmi 2 Prime has everything that budget phone should have. Even it has gyroscope sensor which lacks in phone like Moto X Play. Here are pros and cons of this phone from my point of views:
Pros:
Display: It is 4.7 inch IPS 720p panel which fits in small hands. The IPS panel used is very much visible in sunlight and there is no fade away issues after tilting the screen.
Form factor: Very sturdy and does not feel cheap while holding it in hand. Weight distribution is fine.
Rear Camera: It has 8 MP rear camera which plays decent job and it captures pics better than my Zenfone 5.
RAM & SOC: The Snapdragon 410, Adreno 306 and 2GB RAM does offers a lot. It is very much stable than mediatek SOC's.
OTG Support: Many budget devices lack this feature but thanks to Xiaomi who didn't skipped this feature.
Battery Backup: Getting good battery backup though it has just 2200 mAh battery.
UI: MiUI is very much attractive and colorful. You can change the theme if you don't like existing one. It does offer lot of features that vanilla Android fails to offer unless you root it.
ROM Development: If you like rooting and custom ROM's then this device will never disappoint you. Tons of custom ROM and tweaks are available on XDA developers. Even your warranty do not get void if root your Mi device.
Cons:
Front camera: It is just 2MP which is just average.
