55 inch Tv was bought last August for $1899 at Best Buy. we also bought the optional screen protector for an extra $150. It took I while for us to pick the perfect set but we finally did, and it was well worth it. Back in September, this TV was the premium choice, but I am really not sure what is on the market now. The TV has many features including picture-in-picture. It has not given us any problems over the several months that we have owned it. The TV also provides an excellent stereo sound which gives a whole different effect when you watch loud action movies. The bass is good for listening to music videos. Also, if you are in this price range and have and extra thousand or so to spend, you shoud think about High Definition TV.
You can't beat this picture in a non-hdtv set! My only complaint is with the remote. The batteries go in the top of the device which makes it quite top heavy and not that comfortable to hold.
The only thing that put me at an inconvenience is the placement of the main rear panel RF/AV input and output connections. All my other equipment is setup on the wrong side of the set. The front panel AV jacks are convenient though. Overall I think this TV is amoung the best in the industry regardless of price.
