Ashotush Gowariker has done it again, and this time he has done it better.

Swades is a movie with a soul and a message, which is a welcome break from all the love triangles woven around some kind of story in every second movie. Swades is the story of Mohan, an NRI who has been staying in U.S.A for the last twelve years. He decides to come to India to search for his childhood nanny, who is as close to him as his mother. His search takes him to discover the harsh ground realities of his home country and he feels that everyone including him is responsible for the current state of the country.

This movie not only depicts the problems of rural India but also tries to find solutions to some of them. Swades is a very inspiring movie, which actually makes u think after u leave the cinema hall. We realize that all we do is blame either the politicians, government, corrupt officials or the system for something that is not happening right, how many times have we actually stood up and made a difference? This movie tells us that things wont change unless we don?t work towards improving it.

Gowariker?s depiction of rural India is unarguable the best ever done by any filmmaker. The characters are so well conceived that you can relate to each one of them. You can identify with their problems and you also understand their attitude towards life and how it changes once they see things changing for better in their village. Srk has given his career best performance and also Kaveri amma(nanny) has given a splendid performance. The songs are very melodious and a very essential part of this movie, as they play a big role in depicting the emotions of different characters in different situations.

A must see movie for every Indian, I wouldn?t be surprised if this movie would inspire many youngsters to work for the development of the nation and also NRIs giving it a thought to come back to their home country and work for the upliftment of their countrymen.

Critics call this move a bit slow and not every engrossing. The pace at which the movie moves is what makes this movie such a masterpiece; the director says what he wants to in a very efficient manner through well-structured situations and realistic characters. Swades is in short ?a no nonsense good meaningful cinema. Definitely not worth a miss!!
