Ever watched the title credits of an Ekta Kapoor serial? The title called ‘Concept By’ will be taken up invariably by the queen herself. Ekta Kapoor! Yes, that alpha woman who possesses the business acumen to mastermind ploys that split the entire nation to two; the dumb minds that love it; the intelligent minds that thoroughly hate it.
Some say, her concept is that of a Feminist with a touch of Indian family values. I say, her concepts blatantly support Anti-Feminism and here are my reasons.
*Sample Scenario {...** A newly wed, middle class, saree-clad **“Ekta prototype woman”** comes to the family of her extra-rich in-laws ***...} **** All except her brother-in-law’s wife (who is lazy and selfish) love her. Her Mother-in-law is extra caring. Sister-in-law adopts her as a step mom.
She takes up the role of a dignified in-house servant with ease. I mean the docile wife who gains the love of everyone by willingly behaving like a doormat for all. She does all the cleaning, cooking, washing, loving, caring of mother-in-law. She joins her husbands company and becomes the most respected, technically brilliant CEO in no time.
