Introduction

I have grown up watching action thrillers and have seen almost all the movies released to date. Although I enjoy films of all genres, action thrillers hold a special place for me because of their ability to blend high-octane spectacle, fistfights, chases, and explosions- with sustained tension, suspense, and the complex plots typical of thrillers. I was extremely excited about the release of Mardaani 3 as I have watched almost all the films in the Mardaani franchise, and they have been outstanding. Luckily, this time I also got the opportunity to watch the first day, first show, and I am thrilled to share my experience with you all.

The Plot

The movie returns as a hard-hitting comedy-drama that focuses on the gritty reality of child exploitation and the urgent need for swift justice. It introduces Amma, a dangerous antagonist played by Mallika Prasad who operates a trafficking network. Similar to its predecessors, it also centres on women's empowerment, with Rani Mukerji portraying a determined officer, making the movie more impactful. I really love the way it has maintained a dark, intense, and emotional tone, focusing on raw, realistic action rather than stylised, excessive spectacles.

The Performance

Continuing the legacy of the franchise, Rani Mukerji has made me speechless with her power-packed performance as Shivani Shivaji Roy. Her commanding screen presence, intense expressions, and powerful dialogue delivery have truly won my heart. Apart from her, Mallika Prasad as Amma and Janki Bodiwala have also numbed me with their raw and impactful roles, which are outstanding and played a significant role to make the movie a big hit. Not only the main character but all the supporting casts, like Jisshu Sengupta, Prajesh Kashyap, Mikhail Yawalkar, Indraneel Bhattacharya, and Jimpa Sangpo Bhutia, have done a great job.

Cinematography & Music

I loved the background shots and editing in the movie till end. No scenes looked exaggerated or felt stuffed uselessly. All the crime scenes and Ranis entry in every scene were truly powerful and filled me with energy. The first half is truly engaging, but the editing loses its grip in the second half but still feels good. The background music is truly remarkable, enhancing the overall scene feel. Songs like Tu Hai Kaha, Pal Pal, and Rula Ke Gaya Ishq are truly melodious. I enjoyed the songs and still hum while working.

Should You Watch It?

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the movie successfully highlights the theme of intense justice, female empowerment, and resilience against crime, featuring a new ruthless villain, Amma, who has amazed with her unforgettable performance in the movie. Although it is a franchise movie, Mardaani 3 has its own moments that carry a strong message. It is perfect in its own way, but if compared with the previous edition, Mardaani 3 has lacked the punch and edge that the first two films stand out. But it has successfully portrayed the core theme of child exploitation, which I really liked. Overall, if you love action thrillers and have already watched the previous edition of this franchise, you must watch it.
