The seventh movie of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World Rebirths launch was the reason for my excitement, as I had watched all its previous movies. I got the opportunity to watch the Jurassic movie decade after Jurassic World(2015). Suspenseful horror movies always catch my eye, and this is the one I extremely enjoyed watching. It is a great comeback of thrilling dinosaurs, which uses Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johanson to try to reinvigorate our dinosaur awe.
The Story
The movie revolves around the mission to retrieve dinosaur DNA from a remote Island to develop a drug to cure heart disease. A pharmaceutical company, Parker Genix, hired a team led by Zora Benette(Scarlett Johanson), a battle-tested special operative, to extract DNA from large prehistoric creatures on Ile Saint Hubert, an island with a history of failed dinosaur experimentations, with the help of Dr. Henry Loomis(Jonathan Bailey) and other specialists, including Dunchan Kincaid(Mahershala Ali).
Positive Aspects
The movie is the Jurassic Park franchise, so no doubt the visuals are spot on. Particularly, the dinosaur CGI and action sequences. The movie has wonderfully exhibited the island and the dinosaur, which feels real, especially for the audience who have seen the other Jurassic movies. It has successfully maintained its real charm of suspense throughout the movie, especially in the second half. The cinematography and soundtrack have done a great job in the overall movie success and kept the audience engaged. I must appreciate the editing skills in some scenes that caught my breath. Apart from it, the performance of the lead cast was also wonderful, especially Scarlett Johanson, who is seen leading her team with lots of enthusiasm and zeal.
Negative Aspects
Although the movie is fantastic, it's unfair not to mention some of its lagging points, which could have been better. The movie was captivating, successfully creating suspense, but I felt the characters were disappearing when not needed. Also, I felt the characters were shallow and underwritten in some scenes, making it difficult to share an emotional bond with them. Lastly, the movie lacks newness in its story to create an unforgettable impression on the audience.
Final words
Overall, Jurassic World Rebirth is an action-packed and fun movie that delivers on its promise of dinosaur mayhem through its cast and technical aspects. The movie has wonderfully portrayed the scenic view of Iceland and the fearsome dinosaurs. Although it was not a masterpiece of storytelling and characters, it succeeded in achieving its core objective of thrilling entertainment for fans of this franchise, especially me. Its the best classic summer blockbuster, which is worth praising for its focus on spectacle and nostalgia.
