*Bheja Fry** is a must-watch movie of the season. A receipe that will titillate your senses and make your stomach twirl with laughter.:) A kind of movie that you will typically enjoy watching with your buddies.
The first impression that the movie's trailers and posters leave on you is that of a typical low-budget movie with a not-so star-studded cast! I still dared to go watch it, and much to my surprise, it turned out to be a complete entertainer. Rather, I'll like to term this movie as a one-man show!
Yes, **Vinay Pathak**, who plays the leading character in this movie, takes the cake(leaving behind the cherry for Rajat Kapoor:)!
The plot is centered on the life of a certain Ranjit Thadani(played by **Rajat Kapoor**), who is the owner of a music company, while his wife, played by **Sarika**, is a renowned singer.
Coming back to Vinay Pathak, he plays a character called Bharat Bhushan(he even narrates a story why he is named so!). He is an IT officer by profession and a budding singer by hobby(he considers himself to be a pro). He even keeps a **scrapbook** that contains his childhood singing victories and a list of some thousand plus songs! Thadani, under the pretext of talent hunt, likes to make fun of such "budding talents", calls Mr. Bhushan for dinner over to his place. Bharat Bhushan arrives at Thadani's Juhu residence - this is the place where all the things happen!
Unfortunately, the dinner night is not very soothing for Thadani; he sprains his back badly. To add to his agonies, his wife leaves the house without telling her whereabouts. Buy the scene keeps you wondering, what in the world has exactly happened for such a drastic decision(ya, maybe she is just hyper-reactive). Our budding singer arrives at Thadani's place. And the rest is what the movie is all about.
Vinay Pathak carries the entire movie single-handedly, but is aptly supported by Rajat Kapoor, Sarika and **Milind Soman**. **Ranvir Shorey**, **Tom Alter** and **Bhairavi Goswami** also sneak in brief performances to aid in the laughter riot.
The character of Bharat Bhushan is the whole-and-soul of the movie. This character glorifies the title of the movie - Bheja Fry! Your brain can actually feel that irritative numbness when Mr. Bhushan starts blabbering away to glory. He is annoyingly unstoppable as a character. But on-screen, he creates a stomach crunching, non-stop laughter receipe. You simply have to watch the movie to experience the talent of Vinay Pathak. He is just amazing!
*Rajat Kapoor** does a great job to support Vinay. As usual, he blends into the role he portrays.
Milind Soman and Sarika are also okay. Though, Ranvir, who plays an IT officer, looks quite sticky and does an overtly exaggerated theatre-like cameo.
As for the technical aspects of the film, the **script** and **dialogues** are very well written, and in fact form the backbone of the film(Vinay couldn't have left the mark, but for the perky dialogues). The film is set more like a play, with a single backdrop for most part of the plot. The **editing** is quite okay with good timing. For a change, there is **no song and dance** in the film as every other Bollywood film has.
To sum it up, **Bheja Fry** is a dish you should **definitely try out** this summer!
