A Musical Extravaganza
Oct 22, 2008 03:10 PM 1745 Views

Subhash ghai and AR Rahman combo is back after a musical hit, Taal that  happened 10 years before. After taal, there came a damp squib movie from ghai called Kisna in which ARR did music only for couple of numbers including the hit song, "hum hain is pal yahaan"(rest of the songs performed by Ismail durbar). Ok coming to the album Yuvvraaj, its an album that was eagerly expected in the bollywood movie arena and among the music lovers as its going to mark the return of the hit combo, Subhash ghai and ARR. Lets see how the songs fare in this much anticipated album.

  1. Main Hoon Yuvvraaj - Salman khan with 5th of beethoven

An intro by salman khan in subhash ghai style narrating about his character in the movie. His voice is ably supported by fifth of beethoven orchestration in the background. It's the prelude about the overall essence of this album. strictly for salman fans.

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

  1. Tu Meri Dost Hain- Benny dayal, shreya ghosal, ARR

A magical melody that will stay for long in your mind. The best part is when arr joins the melody giving his mesmerizing touch to the track. Benny dayal has sung his best. Equally supported well by ace singer shreya ghosal adding the superflous touch and the way she ends the song is amazing. one of the best track in the album.

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

3.Mastam Mastam - Sonu nigam, Alka Yagnik, Naresh & Benny

A ballad style song showcasing the wide usage of instruments making merry to the zestful singing of sonu nigam, alka yagnik and co.  It is interspersed with clappings, dholak all over the song. A nice rhythmic song goes well with the album.

Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5

  1. Dil Ka Rishta- Sonu nigam, Roopkumar rathod, ARR-(backing vocals clinton, suzanne, vivienne, naresh, benny & blaze)

wow what a masterpiece stroke from ARR. A song that is on top of the world. A perfect example for western classical orchestration. This song showcases the immense talent of sonu nigam. There wont be any surprise if he bags the best singer award for this song. A highly emotional song which will go to its lilting best when its seen on screen for sure. This song stands to be the ultimate best of this versatile album.

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.

  1. Shano Shano- Sonu nigam, srinivas, karthik, timmy, sunaina, vivienne pocha, Tina

A peppy disco number with nice beats and rhythm that will suit the party lovers. Electronic techno beats add up the zeal to the rythm and this song will surely depend on the picturisation and how well it fits to the situation.

Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5.

  1. Tu Muskura- Alka Yagnik, Javed Ali

A beautiful melody superbly sung by alka yagnik. An emotional romantic song with a beautiful haunting tune from ARR. Nice flute interludes and techno beats matching the lyrics of gulzar saab. Brilliant melody from ARR.

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

7. Zindagi- *Srinivas

A slow soft number showcasing the talent of arr even in slow melodies in the lines of luka chuppi. Srinivas has done justice to this song through his amazing tone. A feel good song.

Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5

  1. Shano Remix- Featuring EMBER(remixed by Krishna Chetan)

Once again comes this disco number this time with apt rap intro. It starts off with the rap in the lines of eminem, well executed by ember.  A short and cute song perfectly remixed with rap part being the highlight. This remix actually works more than the original.

Rating:  3.5 stars out of 5

  1. Manmohini Morey- Vijay Prakash

This song is full of energy, probably the other best song of the album. A song which can easily strike and mesmerize the mind with splendid singing by vijay prakash an unfamiliar name in the world of music. The best thing is the rhythmic alaap(thom thom thana) interludes blending well with the flow of song. Sad to note that this song was given a premature end when the listener yearns for more to come. A fitting track that ignites the fusion smittered all over the album.

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5( half point reduced because the song length is short)

P.S: Please do listen the tracks of this album with patience and a bit of concentration always helps. Dont come to any conclusion without giving two or three listenings. The songs will grow on you and some or all of the songs will definitely make instant appeal.

When two legends join together, the result will be awesome. ARR has produced the best music available that suits the mood of the movie. Subhash ghai and ARR have proved that they are a lethal combination in delivering one beautiful musical journey. Go listen and get awestruck by the musical beauty of the mozart, Allah Rakkah RAHMAN.
