The Technicians Need To Change Their Attitudes!

I have been a been a customer of Videocon d2h Digital DTH services for around two years now. This service comes with its fair share of pros and cons.


I am going to touch upon the pros first.


The picture quality is excellent. The signal strength is always high and incredibly reliable, even during heavy rain! Some DTH service providers, cut off the signal, even if it's just a cloudy day, with no rain! Also, I have noticed that the quality of the signal transmitted for some DTH service providers are so bad, that there is no proper co-ordination between picture and sound! Videocon d2h certainly doesn't let its customers down with regard to aspects like these, at least not from my experience!


Also, with regard to channel selection, in my opinion, Videocon d2h, was the one of the first DTH services to provide English channels such Romedy Now, Colors Infinity, Fox Life and Nat Geo People(for instance), while other DTH service providers seemed to be lagging behind!


I am now, going to touch upon the cons.


While Videocon d2h, is really favourable as far as all these technical details(as mentioned above) are concerned(and of course, the aspect with regard to a pretty wide array of channels and packages, on offer), I am afraid that the quality of their customer service needs improvement!


My family and I were very satisfied with the quality of Videocon's DTH services and as soon as we purchased our second television set, we eagerly set about trying to obtain our second Videocon d2h connection. This process turned out to be incredibly difficult and in the end impossible, all thanks to a pretty evasive customer care service.


We know that Bangalore is awash with reluctant electricians, plumbers, masons and technicians, who have this irritating habit of conveniently cutting off a customer's call, but this incident crossed all the lines of ridiculous!


After logging in to the website and filling in the form to request a call back from customer care and hence, avail of any special offer that might exist for existing subscribers for purchasing a second DTH connection, we waited for 24 hours and finally, got a call from a customer care representative, telling us that a'technical engineer' will be getting in touch with us, the next day in order to take down our address, for a house call and finish the job at hand. Little did we know that we were going to be getting in touch with one of the most reluctant technicians ever!


When he called us the next day, he said he would take another 24 hours to arrive at our home to complete the job, as there were other jobs pending at other sites. We felt that this was perfectly reasonable.


Then 24 hours, soon became 48. I must admit, that we were getting rather annoyed.


And just as in true Bangalore fashion(or as my mom says'Bangalore style!'), every time my dad or I tried to reach this technician via his mobile, he conveniently rejected the call!


Fed up, my dad called Videocon d2h customer care and to his shock, the customer care executive who took up my dad's call, was actually under the impression that the job had been completed and that we now, had a second Videocon d2h connection!


Tired of all the lies and unwilling to file a brand new'service complaint', my family and I decided to employ the services of Tata Sky instead, as far as our second DTH connection was concerned.


Interestingly, 10 days after installing our new Tata Sky connection, his royal highness from Videocon d2h decided that my family and I actually exist and graced us with a phone call to ask whether we require his services! Needless to say, as soon as my dad and I knew it was he, who was calling us, we gave him a taste of his own medicine, by choosing to cut off his call, whenever he tried to reach us!


I am aware that two wrongs don't make a right, but as customers of Videocon d2h, we were sick and tired of this dodgy behaviour, so we decided to give this technician, a taste of his own medicine!
