Story:

Hell Hello dear friends. I hope you are fine. I am just back from Meluha and blown away!

A review from @gruchirg got me interested in this triology. I read a review on The secret of Nagas when I came to know that a triology exists and it’s been bestseller (was out of track for 3 years). Then I came upon the reviews of The immortals of Meluha and decided to take a drive. What a gift!!!

About the author. Amish is a sharp and fertile mind. In an age where everybody is imitating Chetan Bhagat and trying to avail the interest of his elevation, Amish chose to author his own course through an aesthetic blend of history and mythology. He came out a bright conqueror. And how??

Plot : Shiva’s tribe, plagued by poor quality of life, is bargained to immigrate to Meluha from Mount Kailash for greener pastures. Once there, Shiva realizes that they have been poached in the pursuit of The Neelkanth.

Shiiva meets Sati, a vikrama and starts longing for her. It’s interesting how their romance moves ahead and they get married despite the challenges of destiny and amid the laws of Meluha. Shiva accepts his role as a Messiah of good over evil.

Meluha is under constant threat of terrorist attack from Kingdom of “Swadweep” (Really??). It is considered that the Chandravanshis from Swadweep cannot bear the sight of the highly developed Superpower Meluha and are wary of boisterous lifestyle of Suryavanshis. For the fear of losing out and not declaring the war openly, they have united with the Nagas for regular invertebrate attacks on Meluhan innocents. After a chain of encounters, Kingdom of Meluha declares a war against Swadweep.

After the battle is won, Shiva will collapse into a state of awe and remorse. To comeback, he will visit Ramjanambhoomiin Ayodhya, another twist is broken!!!

The three scenes I loved are :

1-Sati beat Tarak in Agnipariksha

2-Sati admits her love to Shiva

3-Shiva meets a beggar on way to Ramjanambhoomi. (The Best)

Narration & readability. The narrative is smooth, light, direct & composed for the masses. It’s fun!

The PROS

A masala Novel??? So we all have come across the term “masala movie” many times. But here we have an out and out masalanovel. Romance and Thrill are the main subjects and there is abundant application of action, suspense, humor, twists, betrayal, tragedy, agony. There are many things for everybody. No doubt Karan Johar is planning a movie with Hrithik Roshan & Vidya Balan in lead.

Sequences like Shiva longing for Sati angelchandru021y, war techniques exchanges between Shiva & Parvateshwar, description of cities Srinagar, Devagiri & Ayodya (best) is fantastic.

The story has been conceptualized and accomplished smartly, though there was more capacity.

The narrative is simple making it readable for all possibly. It feels as if it’s been presented in celluloid.

The end will leave you enthralled and dry for more!!!

The CONS

The story is simple. We have already been served this before. Only the concept/theme is different. There was much more for Amish to dig into.

The use of words like sh*t and bloody hell by Shiva doesn’t go down well.

Some parts are not explained properly. Like If Sati was pregnant & not participating, why did she move through the inconsistent terrains to Swadweep for war. Also, Shiva scrapping the Vikrama law for his advantage looked a bit odd to me though fairly substantiated.

The story drags at certain points like Shiva-Sati wedding.

Important. Before you commence, make yourself sure that this is a fiction, woven around mythological characters. There is nothing common with Shiva Mahapuran or other mythological literature.

My rating – 3.5/5
